The peroneal nerve is a branch of the sciatic nerve in the lower leg and can be damaged from trauma or injury to the leg or pressure on the leg. Symptoms include loss of sensation, inability to hold the foot up, toes dragging while walking, tingling or weakness in the foot. Peroneal nerve release surgery may be required to relieve pressure on the nerve.
