    • Dr. J. Chris Kerr Memorial Fund

Dr. J. Chris Kerr Memorial Fund

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Dr. J. Chris Kerr, a 40 year-old family practice physician who was tragically killed in a traffic accident on Aug. 18, 1999, while riding his bike home from work. The Dr. J. Chris Kerr Memorial Fund enhances the lives of others through activities such as a yearly scholarship for first year medical students and memberships at the Barron Area Community Center for patients with financial hardship.

Contributions to the memorial fund are tax deductible.

Dr. Kerr joined the Barron clinic in September 1996 and quickly became a popular and well-respected physician with a growing family medical practice. The Dr. J. Chris Kerr Memorial Fund was established at the request of Dr. Kerr's co-workers, patients, friends and family who wish to continue his legacy of improving health and enhancing lives.

Dr. Kerr was born September 12, 1958 in Oshkosh. After high school, he entered the U.S. Air Force and later received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Medicine. He re-enlisted in the Air Force and completed his residency at the U.S. Air Force Hospital at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. He was also stationed another four years in Germany.

Dr. Kerr's survivors include wife, Anita, and three sons, Ben, Alex and Stefan. He was an avid outdoorsman, but especially enjoyed all types of bicycle riding, including racing, commuting and touring.
