The medical Social Services Department is part of a multidisciplinary health care team assisting you and your family with issues related to care. The team works with your health care provider and other team members in understanding and addressing the significant social and emotional factors related to the provision of health services.
Most clinic and hospital departments have dedicated social workers who are trained in the specific needs of each unit. You and your family members should speak to a nurse or physician in the department or hospital unit to access the appropriate social worker, or call 608-785-0940 and ask for Social Services.
The department vision is to put the needs of the patient first and collaborate to improve the health of the individuals and communities we serve. In support of the that mission and vision, and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, the department practices quality, patient-centered care.
