Exercise Is Medicine is designed to help you continue to maintain a healthier lifestyle through supervised exercise sessions and health education after you complete phase 2 of cardiac rehabilitation. Exercise Is Medicine is an extension of phase 2, with the emphasis on further achieving your goals through self-structured exercise sessions.
The exercise component
Exercise programs are individually tailored and can include this equipment:
Arm ergometer
Bicycle
Hand weights
Treadmill
Participants will attend sessions one to three times weekly for one hour up to 36 sessions. This program is divided into one-month segments, with a maximum of three months' participation.
Cost
Exercise Is Medicine is a self-pay program.
Enrollment
This program is available to recent phase 2 graduates who have not met their prescribed exercise functional capacity or by physician referral for patient who meet risk criteria.
Additional information
Please note the following:
Wear comfortable clothing
Rubber-soled shoes with arch support are recommended
Do not eat a heavy meal prior to exercise session
Take your medication on your normal schedule
