About the Birth Center in Eau Claire
Designed with the comfort of patients and needs of staff in mind, the birth center offers many services and amenities:
Clinic connection
The Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic is connected to the birth center. In the event of an emergency, women can be transported immediately to the hospital, saving valuable time.
Labor rooms
Eight private labor and delivery rooms offer a homelike atmosphere that combines the highest level of comfort with advanced obstetrical equipment and technology. Each labor room has a whirlpool spa, so you can benefit from a soothing bath during labor. There is plenty of space for family members who wish to be with you during labor and delivery.
Postpartum rooms
Fifteen large, private patient rooms provide plenty of space for you and your visitors. At mealtime, you can order room service meals from the inpatient menu. Each postpartum room has a shower for you to relax in after your baby is born. Four rooms have queen-size beds. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis for moms who qualify.
Level 2 special care nursery
The Special Care Nursery is on-site in Eau Claire. When needed, babies who need a higher level of care can receive it here from highly trained, experienced nurses. Babies born at Mayo Clinic Health System locations in Barron and Menomonie needing Level 2 care are transferred to this nursery for a seamless transition of care.
Family waiting room
The family waiting room is equipped with many comforts of home. It allows family and friends who are not in the room with you during labor a special place to wait for the arrival of the new baby. It also provides a welcome place for dads, children, grandparents and other visitors to sit if you need to take a break or rest.
Security
To provide the safest environment for your new bundle of joy, the birth center is a locked unit. Upon arrival to the unit, visitors should push the button to be granted access. Visitors will check in to receive visitor badges and asked health screening questions to protect everyone's health and safety.
