My practice philosophy is driven by Mayo Clinic values. During a prospective patient’s visit, they can expect a thorough history and physical examination. To make the best shared decision with a patient regarding their diagnosis, I believe it is important to understand who the patient is, as well as what diagnosis they have. With this in mind, a patient’s hobbies, lifestyle, family situation, and goals all factor into the decision-making process.
I grew up in the Midwest and have a young family and a wonderful wife. I enjoy spending time with family, reading, and playing ice hockey. I received my undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and my medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where I graduated first in my class. I completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, followed by a fellowship in sports surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY. During my fellowship year, I learned from world experts in sports medicine and developed unique skills for treating conditions of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee.
My sports practice emphasizes treating conditions such as hip impingement and hamstring injuries, shoulder dislocations and rotator cuff tears, and knee conditions including cartilage loss, ACL injuries, and patellar dislocations, among others. In addition to my sports surgery practice, I perform manual and robotic partial and total joint replacements. I am uniquely positioned by Mayo Clinic to provide world-class care in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and the surrounding area.
